Dogs in Cold Weather

This is still the best article I've found on why dogs can stand cold weather. Written by Tom Greelee, the article appeared in the March, 1971 issue of Northern Dog News and in the January, 1971 issue of the Newsletter of the Samoyed Club of Colorado.

The gist of it is that dogs' blood circulation system is fundamentally different than ours as is the kind and distribution of fatty tissues in their legs and feet. My post from about two years ago discusses this issue further.

Janet Wall has a pretty good list of things to provide/watch out for to help your dog cope with sub-zero, freezing temperatures.

This one is pretty good too.
